Decorating Organizing a rented home is a challenge that many of us face. The space needs to be organized creatively as hammering of nails or any such alteration is not allowed. As the space isn’t ours, we don’t want to spend a lot of money.
What we are looking for are budget friendly options that are can be easily removed when we vacate the space.
We are doing a three-part home organization series for the festival season especially Diwali. The first part is for your kitchen, the second is storage and the third is décor.
Before you Buy
There are a few things we should do before finalizing the shopping list-
Check What You Have
Many times, we have many things that can be re-used or recycled. Gather these things and see if you could recycle them. Cane baskets can make great wall décor, old dupattas can be made into cushions, pillowcases can be stitched together to make door mats.
Make a list of What You need
This is the most important step. To avoid regret-buys trim your list to the ‘must buys.’ So, if the first shopping list has 25 things the final should have only 5. The other things if really required can be bought over a period. Another point is to have the specifications of your requirements to avoid buying something that doesn’t fir in the space.
Create a Budget Plan
Money matters a lot. A budget will save you from over-spending. It is very easy to use your credit car and buy whatever catches your fancy but later when you will have to pay the bills. Keep in mind that spending less that what you can is always wise.
Compare Options
Today we are really spoiled for choice. Check the options online, read the reviews, the product details and then buy. Explore discounts and deals to save money.
Creative Thinking
Think outside the box, a magazine holder can be used to store serving trays, a microwave stand can make a great tea/coffee station, or spice rack, ottomans can store and add sitting space.
Transparent tape, double-sided tape command hooks and strips can help to hang or stick things on the wall. A great tip is to buy adhesive wallpaper and then stick organizers, wall décor and shelves.
